Bayview Parent Participation Preschool (Bayview PPP) was started in 1974 by a group of parents who formed a cooperative playgroup. This beginning gave rise to our play-based preschool program, which continues to run with the support of participating parents.
Twice a week, our teacher leads a creative and enriched 2 1/2 hour program, emphasizing fun, learning and socialization.
In 2004, we became a member of the Council of Parent Participation Preschools in B.C., which provides guidance and training to support a collaborative approach to preschool education. The preschool is a registered non-profit society, conforming to the regulations of the Societies Act of British Columbia.
In addition to being a member of the well regulated, high standards of the Council of Parent Participation Preschools in BC, Bayview PPP has a number of exceptional features and special qualities.
- The classes consist of 15 students in both the a.m. and p.m. sessions.
- Highly trained and ECE licensed teacher with many years experience and valid first aid.
- Excellent student/teacher ratio of 5:1 and is often lower due to visiting parents.
- Maintain a rich educational play-based program which includes science, music, art, nature, literature, movement and more. Seasonal themes and activities help connect children to their environment.
- Provide a well-equipped preschool room and have access to school facilities including the gymnasium, library and playground.
- An amazing location at 6th Avenue and Collingwood that is central to the Kitsilano, UBC, Dunbar, and Point Grey areas.
- Committed and happy parents that make lasting friendships with each another.
